Before UWSC ectos were 5k, and now after uwsc, they go up to 7k. Makes no sense.

it makes no sense that people are hording ectos because everyone believes that at the finale of the Halloween UW event, in which there is specific references to uwsc in the lore from King Frozenwind, that the uwsc will be killed for good?

People are probably hoarding to see how high the price will go. I imagine we'll see a spike in ecto prices, then they'll level off again.

What myth? Many, many people believe that the series of Halloween quests are leading up to big changes in the underworld. That's a fact. That being said, no one from A-Net has said that the UW will be changed (or not). It's all speculation. So people are hoarding Ectos, hoping to make some quick cash - that's all it is.

1. I'm sure anet will remove UW because they don't feel like changing SF. This will entice people to buy GW2 because when one skill becomes imbalanced they will remove content.

2. I heard you can farm ectos in UW without having to finish UW. This is common sense, isn't it? Tombs also drops ectos.

Yeah, I think it's more likely that the spike is because of dipwads thinking the nerf and theoretical SF nerf are impending has lead to hoarding.

Maybe I'll whip out my trapper build again... ^_^

The trader only sells what people sell to him. So, going by this it means no one is selling to the trader.

Why?

Simple, they can get a better price selling to other players who are hoping the ecto price will sky rocket.

Ecto price spikes have happened in the history a lot, they were either very quick price spikes not connected to anything happening in the game, going from fairly stable 8k to 11k and evening out in a matter of a couple hours, or there were bigger ones coming from pure playerbase panic about certain game updates that they thought would impact the ecto price. The first kind was most likely caused by RMT businesses either acquiring large amount of ectos to sell directly to customers or quickly needing to "invest" a couple dozen million gold that didn't sell well enough and bots needed space to keep farming new gold. The second kind is most likely what's happening now. Panic.

Players need to learn that the trader is not able to accurately track the value of items, especially when they're as heavily traded among players without npc assistance as ectos are. True value is to be seen observing the rates of bulk WTB/WTS spammers, if you still see many WTS 19=100k and WTB 20=100k who move large amounts then there's nothing serious happening to the price.

It's a quest, it doesn't mean anything, if Anet is gonna kill UWSC, it would have done so ages ago. And if Anet wants to kill UWSC in a story-way(Dhumm gaining power, thus obtain the ability to penetrate shadow form), it can do it so easily: under the influence of death of humans in the underworld(us "noobs" who die sometimes, as opposed to the so called "5 minute pros"), the monsters in underworld gained a new ability that brings them to a greater height.(basically a skill or two that makes it impossible for permas to kill the monsters).

While I agree with the speculation that UWSC is about to get nerfed, it strikes me as odd that it's having an influence on ecto prices.

I speculate:

1. UW is probably going to get one new quest that permas can't do. All the lore signs are pointing to a battle with Dhuum, probably located inside the heretofore sealed up hall.

2. UW is probably not going to get a major makeover. It wouldn't make sense to tweak all those quests and spawn points just to change them a week later.

From that, I feel reasonably confident speculating:

3. Perma itself is not going to be nerfed.

4. Plains is not going to be nerfed.

Now, what brings in more ectos: UWSC or plains farming? As long as you can still farm plains, the demise of speed clear shouldn't matter to the price of ectos.

Makes no sense...UWSCs kill the agents of Dhumm so it only makes sense that he'd be more secure. bunch of hearsay and rumor-spreading to drive prices up.

You should end yourself. Not only is your post horrific and nigh impossible to decipher, but you didn't even understand what was being said. The rumor is that it WILL be nerfed, not that it IS nerfed.
